I have recently gotten into photography and have been enjoying black and white photography a fair amount. I find that I get pictures which I seem to find more enjoyable in black and white when the light is quite flat.
The above picture is one I took today of a lady cycling on the lime bikes here in London. I was playing around with using a slightly longer shutter speed (1/20 seconds) to achieve motion blur whilst tracking the subject. This was probably the best picture in my burst of photos as I panned from right to left.
Things I like:
- The picture has a flow/movement to it
- The subject is very obvious
Things which I think could be improved:
- I think it is possible to potentially get a better frozen image of the cyclist by improving my tracking, I am not sure if I tracked too fast or too slow.
- It would be good to get more of a story/intrigue in a picture like this as there is not much else that makes you think about this picture.
