#4 Photo blog: Lang Mor Night Market, Chiang Mai

This is a picture that I took during my honeymoon to Thailand. My wife and I found Lang Mor Night Market in Chiang Mai by accident. We found it to be a hidden gem as it is a student night market so the food strikes a balance of super tasty and cheap. The above picture is of a Pad Thai stall. My wife and I agree it was probably the best Pad Thai we had in Thailand, and it was the cheapest at 30 baht (December 2024/January 2025). I like how the colours are coming through on this photo which was taken on Kodak Ultramax 400.

Here you can see loads of students enjoying their evening dinner. In terms of photo composition, it’s a bit messy but it does give an idea of how busy this place gets.

This lady was super nice, we tried a pulled pork made with Chinese 5 spice. We tried something similar in Bangkok on a Chinatown food tour (courtesy of A Chef’s Tour) which was very delicious, so we tried again.

The above duo were making rotis. These are essentially pancakes, we were not brave enough to try the egg and banana combo. Our favourites were chocolate and more conventional flavours. She had her two kits sitting at the back in their school uniforms playing after school whilst her and her partner made delicious rotis.

Yummy roti. It was my first time using the Minolta X700 at night. It really worked well! Definitely should do some more night film photography.
