I recently was in Cambridge, Boston for work. I only really had the chance to take photos before work in the morning or after in the evening. The timing in October 2025 turned out okay as during those times it was golden hour either before or after work for me.
All the photos except the last two were taken with my Sony A6000 and Viltrox 25mm f/1.7 lens. The last two photos were taken with my phone (Samsung A54) as I didn’t have my Sony camera to hand.
In Boston, there were loads of cyclists, and I love cycling so this seemed to form a theme with this collection of photos!

The above photo was taken on the MIT campus, in the evening after the sun had set. This area was nicely lit whilst the surrounding was dark. I reduced the exposure compensation to ensure the dark parts remained much darker to focus on the cyclist and lady in the lit area. On the way to this part of the campus I saw quite a few student clubs and societies including some people doing ballroom dancing, it reminded me of my time at Imperial where I would see the ballroom dancers practicing in the evenings in the student common rooms.

This photo was taken inside of the MIT campus as I was searching for the MIT dome. I set my camera to black and white mode and moved around until the center was nicely in the middle of the frame.

This picture was taken in the evening as I was walking towards my dinner location. This place stood out in the residential neighborhood with its lights. The staff inside were packing up for the day I think. I managed to a person walking across. Again here I reduced the exposure compensation a bit to give the deli more of a significant place in the frame.

I had always wanted to go to Trader Joe’s after listening to the freakonomics podcast episode about it. In the UK, our equivalent is Aldi and Lidl. I switched back to colour for this photo as I liked the red logo at night.

It was almost Halloween, Trader Joe’s had this big pile of pumpkins outside. I like the mixture of oranges in this scene.

On my way back one evening I liked the look of these construction lights. I used maximum aperture and focused on light at the beginning.

I saw this fire hydrant also on the way back, I like they it has remnants of its old colours.

This cyclist I captured in front of the Cambridge City Hall. I used a fast shutter speed and burst mode to capture the moment before her bike overlaps with the cycle lane divider. I like the yellow flowers in the back which center the photograph.

This photo was taken on my walk to the office during sunrise. I like the golden glow of the rising sun on this odd triangular shapes building.

This photo was taken on my phone whilst I sat in an Uber. Again during golden hour but at the end of the day. I was going to the airport and was trying to photograph a lady in the sun, however, this turned out to best photo as it has a 3D feeling due to the position of the people.
